Have You Been Thinking About Going Back to School?
President Obama gave a motivational speech to school children on September 8, 2009. His message was meant to encourage kids to stay in school, try to go on to college, and follow their dreams. What happened was a slew of controversy followed.
It's hard to say why his speech was met with opposition, but one could guess that that is simply how politics work. You can't please all the people all the time. But the fact remains, all women need to get into school so they can get a degree and the ability to get a higher paying job.
We should take a closer look at Obama's message and see what it really breaks down to.Obama basically tells the children that if they work hard, they can see their dreams fulfilled and their goals met, but it takes work, it isn't just going to happen. The best way to see goals and dreams fulfilled is to get an education. Education is the building blocks of our society. You can't get ahead in life if you drop out of high school. We all need that basic education to go a good paying job.
Obama may have had specific goals and tasks in mind when giving his speech. He, of course, wants children to finish their education and to go on to college afterwards. He even wants adults to go back to school and get degrees and get in those careers they always wanted.
A few of Obama's main points include: Motivating students and children to do their best at every task or subject they are presented with. He also wants children to see the benefits of education, from elementary school through high school and on to college. He continued to encourage students to stay in school and not dropout before they finish at least a high school diploma. Remember, once you get a degree, no one can take it away from you. It will help you many times over in the future. There are many opportunities for a woman to get an education that the government can help pay for.
